Nancy in the Land of Smoke & Mirrors is a short story about an ashen woman, Nancy.

Sitting at her office desk, she can't escape that suffocating feeling that she's done something very wrong. She's unsure if she should have had the affair with her boss. She's unsure if she actuallly enjoyed it or just wanted something else. And she's unsure if it's her fault that he and his wife are now dead and burnt.

Now that his parents have come to collect his personal belongings from his office, Nancy is finding it hard to breathe.

 

It's all smoke and mirrors.

Inspired by a news report of a couple who were found dead in their wardrobe after a house fire, Nancy in the Land of Smoke & Mirrors was written in 2011.
