Polly Pocket is No Princess is a ten-minute piece written during a 24-hour playwriting exercise with the Australian Theatre for Young People. The inspiration was a dusty Polly Pocket Cinderella castle, with missing Polly.

 

Polly Pocket is No Princess is about the shattering of the ‘happily ever afters’ of so many fairytales.

Cinderfella wants his chance to woo Polly Pocket, believing her to be his dream woman. Upon sneaking into her party in disguise he gets invited up to her room, only to discover that his fairytale princess Polly is actually a monster.

Polly Pocket is No Princess was performed as part of the Brand Spanking New Festival in Sydney in 2009.
